Ive been trying to learn Japanese for the past few weeks but slowly losing the motivation to do so, especially with school and all, but this video just reminded me that i gotta try harder and take my time learning if i ever want to become fluent and visit japan !! <3

learning both Chinese and Japanese is so difficult because of the kanji/hanji. sometimes I get bored to learn it but don't give up like a noob. still keep hardworking man!!

It's cool and all, but personally I find that apps don't do much for me. Especially learning the same things from a lot of different apps, I'd feel like I'm not moving. I use HSK Standard Course books and Anki for my vocab, it's enough and I stay focused and progress.

On furigana, shounen and shoujo typically have furigana, even much older shounen manga from the 80s and prior. Seinen and josei manga however doesn't typically have furigana and the vocab tends to be a bit more difficult. So, good luck reading the original version of Space Pirate Captain Harlock lol, but you'd have an easier time reading Leiji Matsumoto's earlier manga, Otoko Oidon.

I was planning to study Japanese next semester but my friend introduced me to a study abroad internship at a company for next summer. Although I'm not 100% sure I'll get the internship I thought I'd get a head start and start this semester. As someone who went to her home country (Armenia) a lot, even visiting a country knowing basic phrases is important. I see that you’re using the Chineasy flaschards to study HSK1, therefore you’re studying simplified characters, but the creator of Chineasy uses traditional characters, and in minute 6:05 you show the traditional characters “買主”, but in simplified characters it changes to “买主”. Just to let you know.

Like any ideas for prep apart from learning Kana as I have been self studying from GENKI for the past 9 months but would still love to hear any advice!
